Andrew D. Peters, D.O.

Dr. Peters is an adult psychiatrist with extensive experience providing comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy in a variety of settings including hospitals, emergency rooms, outpatient clinics as well as telepsychiatry. He specializes in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders including major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety, as well as attention deficit disorders and the treatment of insomnia. He utilizes a variety of psychotherapeutic techniques including dynamically informed supportive psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral as well as interpersonal psychotherapy and psychoeducation. He strives to provide evidence-based, informed care and partners with patients on all decision-making. Dr. Peters completed his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004, followed by a combined internship in internal medicine and pediatrics at Pennsylvania State University/Hershey Medical Center in 2005. He graduated from the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency training program in 2008 and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Scheduling
Dr. Peters is generally available for appointments Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 am through 2:30 pm and on Tuesday from 9:30 am through 1:30 pm. If you are new to his practice, please call him at 301-897-0099 ext. 313 to discuss scheduling a consultation.

Insurance
Dr. Peters participates with United Healthcare and our office will file claims for you. Additionally, many insurance policies have an out-of-network benefit which typically reimburses you for a portion of your payment. Our practice manager, La Shawn Farrish, can provide you guidance with this process.

Video Appointments
Video appointments are being conducted using Zoom. You will receive an email with the subject “Telemedicine meeting on…” which will have a Zoom link “JOIN MEETING” which you will click at the time of the appointment to join the meeting.
