Sara Cartmell, M.D.

Dr. Cartmell practices general adult psychiatry and psychopharmacology. She works closely with patients to meet their individual needs. She prescribes medication, does psychotherapy and liaisons with other mental health professionals and physicians as needed. Her office is located in the Camalier Building and she has been practicing in Maryland since 1993. Dr. Cartmell graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine in 1985 and completed her psychiatric residency at the New York-Presbyterian Westchester Division/Weill Cornell Medical Center in 1990. Dr. Cartmell is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a member of the Washington Psychiatric Society and serves on the Continuing Medical Education Committee for the Washington Psychiatric Society.

Scheduling
Dr. Cartmell is in the office for appointments Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Appointments for existing patients may either be made by calling her office number or the Practice Manager, La Shawn Farrish. If you are new to her practice, please call her at 301-897-0099 ext. 307 to discuss scheduling a consultation.
Insurance
Dr. Cartmell does not directly participate with any insurance companies. However, many insurance policies have an out-of-network benefit which typically reimburses you for a portion of your payment. Our Practice Manager, La Shawn Farrish, can provide guidance with this process.
