Amy Motamed, DO

Amy Motamed, DO is a board-certified psychiatrist at Old Georgetown Mental Health Associates in Rockville, MD, where she cares for adults ages 18 and older through both in-person and virtual appointments.

Dr. Motamed earned her medical degree from Touro University in 2011 and completed her psychiatric residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2015, where she served as chief resident during her final year of training. She is board certified in both psychiatry and obesity medicine — a combination that shapes a distinctive focus of her practice: the care of patients living with co-occurring obesity and psychiatric illness. For these patients, she integrates dietary guidance and, when appropriate, anti-obesity medication alongside psychiatric treatment to support both mental and physical health.

In her general psychiatric work, Dr. Motamed develops individualized treatment recommendations built around each patient's specific needs and goals.
