Amy Motamed, D.O.
Provider at Old Georgetown Mental Health Associates
Meet Dr. Motamed
Dr. Motamed is a board-certified psychiatrist who works with patients to create specific treatment recommendations based on their individual needs. Treatment recommendations may include therapy, lifestyle adjustments, and/or medications. In addition to general psychiatry, Dr. Motamed is also board certified in obesity medicine and has a particular interest in treatment of patients with co-occurring obesity and psychiatric illness. She works with patients to utilize dietary changes as well as anti-obesity medication when indicated to optimize their mental and physical health.
Additionally, she finds it important to collaborate with other medical providers treating her patients as well as with their families where appropriate. This allows her to better understand each patient’s current level of functioning, to make a more accurate diagnosis, and to communicate on an ongoing basis to help her patients achieve optimal treatment outcomes. Dr. Motamed completed her medical degree at Touro University in 2011 and her psychiatric residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 2015 where she served as chief resident during her final year of training.
